Opening a card definition need not trigger decorative movement

Opening a card definition can reveal its explanation without a decorative flying transition. The comparison below concerns presentation, not game operation.

Static information can replace decorative flight

Hypothetical example: selecting the term “Round” opens a definition. One design sends a card flying across the table before displaying the text and a small diagram. Another reveals the same words and diagram in the definition panel without the flight. The second version keeps the information while removing movement that adds atmosphere rather than meaning.

Compare the displayed definition before judging the effect. Removing movement is useful only if the words and explanatory diagram remain available.

Manual activation differs from automatic animation

Selecting a term can initiate motion. The designer could replace that transition with a still reveal, or offer a control that disables it while retaining the definition.

WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 2.3.3 AAA addresses disabling nonessential motion triggered by interaction, while allowing an exception where movement is essential. Its scope is different from animation that starts automatically without a user action. See the W3C explanation of Animation from Interactions.

Stopping movement is not stopping the game clock

A static reveal leaves the underlying activity unchanged. It does not automatically pause a countdown, cancel a round, freeze a live table or alter a game rule.

Hypothetical comparison: if a card definition normally flies for two seconds, disabling that flight may show the definition immediately. Any timer or state indicator would still need its own clearly described behaviour. Therefore, read the visible prompt and status separately; do not assume that removing visual movement changes the process behind it.

This does not claim that Mantrimall has a motion setting or that one preference works everywhere. This example is a way to compare equivalent presentation choices: identical definition and diagram, with decorative movement removed. The practical check is whether the same meaning remains available without requiring the transition.
